Closed: Mixbook Photobook Review and giveaway!!

I had the wonderful opportunity to review the personalized photo books and special promotions at Mixbook. I got a 8.5×8.5 inch photo book printed and I was amazed at the quality! I even managed to work out a giveaway to one lucky reader (see bottom)!

The ordering process was super easy, just drag and drop pictures into the pre-made pages, or for digital scrappers just choose the full-page template and drag your layout to the book.  The bleed areas were very small, the areas I thought would be cut off were not, and the ‘preview’ you get before you order was very accurate! I have pictures below to see the quality I need a better camera these pictures do it no justice.  The colors were right on with what I expected; no tint or anything abnormal like I got with other printers in the past.

Oh, and even though it is the 8.5 inch size it seems at least an inch bigger than my 8 inch books as you can see in the comparison picture above.  8×8 seems too small, 12×12 too big, but I am loving this 8.5 inch size!

The Giveaway:

The great people at Mixbook have offered one reader a free 20 page 8.5×8.5 photo book! This giveaway is super simple- just tell me what you would print a book of in the comments and you get one entry.  If you blog, facebook, or share this post online; leave another comment and I will add another entry.  Good luck! (Giveaway Closed- Winner is Paula M.- Thanks everyone!)

Scrapping everything! LOL

I have some lofty goals this month- aside from all my papers, tests, and homework- my goal is to complete every challenge at my favorite sites.  It is a mixture of being way behind in scrapping, loving free points for doing the challenge, and well- loving challenges!  I am also working on organizing and getting ready for the move in December!  Been doing a lot of pre-shopping on Pintrest for things I want in the new house- hubby wants one of these Air Hockey Tables but I think that’s a far away dream! LOL

I have my 2010 book ready to go to the printers and even have a great review/giveaway lined up for a photo book so stay tuned for that! Once I get it ordered and in my hands you will get to see pictures and get a shot at winning a free book yourself! Can’t wait for that!!

There are a ton of challenges let to try out, and if all goes well I will get to finish every one of them! I alternate scrapping with studies and cleaning- and all after the baby goes to bed so nothing lost LOL Who needs sleep anyway!  Keep an eye out for the upcoming review and giveaway and be sure to check out my ‘scrapbook pages’ page at the top menu to see some of the layouts I have been making- I try to remember to upload them all here.  Sometime later this week I will post my favoite kits of the week again to help you make your shopping choices!

Let me know if you have any questions about scrapbooking- and remember I just re-opened my blog design services again for up to three new clients so check out that info at the top menu too. Won’t last for long! Will post again soon now that I am back in the swing of things!  Hopefully everything stays on track so I can keep blogging, school, scrapping, and life going at the same time! :-)

Back to my Scrappy Roots

Now that I am back in school I am no longer doing paid web design, but I needed something to keep my creative juices flowing, so I went back to scrapbooking!  I used to be big into paper scrapbooking, had a whole room full of supplies and everything- then life got busy and I stopped, but about 5 years ago I found out about digital scrapbooking.  I feel head over heels in love, just like paper scrapbooks you get to be creative- but there is no mess to clean up, no scraps of paper, lot’s less expense, and well- as a graphic designer- I love it!

I took a break after a while but saved all of my digital scrapbooking supplies (over 30 gigs on a external hard drive!) and am now back into it full swing, I love how portable it is, I can work on a page in-between classes, sometimes even during class if I am waiting on it to start!

I am already on three great creative teams, Plum Dumpling Designs, Inspirations from Day, and Faith True Originals.  So expect to hear more about them soon!  A creative team is where the designer ‘hires’ you to promote and work with their product, I get the new designs before they are in the stores, I make layouts with them and when the kit is released it is my job to post about it on forums, my blog, etc.  Being part of a creative team is important to me because I love being part of a team, and because I only join designers I love I know I will love working with their designs!

School is going great, I am two semesters in right now and still holding a 4.0, I have some hard classes this semester and have really surprised myself with how well I am doing! I just can’t wait to finish all of these pre-requisites and get into the actual nursing program!
